Substitution

Posted by mycrazylittlelife on 02/19/2009

I’m addicted to Chili’s Southwestern Eggrolls.

YUM

However, this keeps me from enjoying them as often as I would like.

Southwestern Eggrolls w/ Avocado Ranch 1 Serving Calories 910 Fat 57 Sat. Fat 14 Carbs 73 Protein 27 Fiber 7 Sodium 1960  *

I know! 910 calories! 57 FAT calories! And did you see the sodium content? Ridiculous!

Thankfully, I’ve found a flavor substitution. I say ‘flavor’ because it does not come in the same form, but the taste is right on.

We’ve had them grilled and microwaved. They are just as tasty in the microwave, so save yourself the trouble. Admittedly, I don’t know what they taste like without a slice of pepper jack cheese. Try it, I promise you’ll enjoy the flavor without all the calories and sodium. If not, send the rest to me!  🙂

It’s all about the savings

Posted by mycrazylittlelife on 01/27/2009

Have you been buying this magazine?

allyoucover

No? Why on earth not?

It has quickly become my favorite magazine. It’s FULL of coupons! Coupons for useful stuff. Stuff I already buy, such as*:

$1.50 off Dove CreamOil Body lotion, $1.00 off Softsoap pump, $2.00 off any Advil, $2.00 off Spot Shot. Those are things almost everyone uses, right? Plus there is a coupon for $5 off the movie Fireproof…and $3 off Open Season, but I didn’t like that movie.

Back to my point, the magazine more than pays for itself. Just for kicks, I’ve added it up for you. The February edition contains $32.11 in savings. Here’s how it breaks down:$34.35 coupons-$2.24 cost of the magazine(10% off cover at the walmarts)=$32.11 in savings!
Plus, there are all sorts of recipes, craft, beauty, fashion, and other helpful  articles. How can you go wrong?

*Any time I type or say ‘such as’ I cannot help but think of this poor girl…

and laugh. Oh, how I laugh! And then I feel guilty. And then I tone it down to a giggle.

There are a few of my favorite things….

Posted by mycrazylittlelife on 08/19/2008

In an effort to focus on the positive instead of the negative floating around in my head, I thought I would take a few minutes and share with you some items I am currently loving. A few things that make my hectic life a little sweeter.

Dial Vanilla Honey Yogurt Body Wash This has replaced my more scented body wash. It’s moisturizing, yet rinses off well. It doesn’t feel like I’ve taken a dip in a vat of petroleum jelly!

DesignLine Press It Straightening Cream I realize I have already professed my love for this product here, on this blog. However, it is still working for me….therefore, I still love it!

Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea. This is simply scrumptious! Lately, I’ve been drinking this in the evening. Usually when I want a snack but don’t need one. That would be pretty much every.single.night. It’s not easy for me to find in my podunk little town though. Which disgruntles me. A lot. Way more than it should….but I digress.

Equate Face Lotion. (Cannot locate link, sorry!) I like this product mostly just because it doesn’t aggravate my already troubled skin. This product does make my skin oily, so I only use it in the evening. It contains alpha hydroxy acid and SPF 15. The SPF is important, however I also receive coverage from my next product:

Everyday Minerals foundation. Awesome coverage, awesome colors, awesome price, awesome service. I love everything about this product!

Febreze:Lavender Vanilla Comfort. I just discovered this scent is also available in a non-aerosol spray(pictured)! Yea!  Usually I purchase the Air Effects, which is an aerosol spray. Bad, I know.

And lip stuff! I love me some lip stuff.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is my favorite. My go-to lip balm.

E.L.F. This is what I use when I want a little color. It smells good and tastes good. Which is important because, dude, it’s on my lips! Since I’m not a lipstick girl, these light color ‘glazes’ are just perfect for me.

What are your favorites?

Good hair days are back!

Posted by mycrazylittlelife on 11/12/2007

Recently I’ve been hating my hair. Like throwing the brush on the bathroom floor hating. The ugly kind of hate. It’s very thick, coarse, kinky and frizzy. It’s also experiencing a bad cut. Nothing will make you consider a Sinead O’Connor buzz cut like waking up to thick, kinky, frizzy, badly butchered hair every morning.
However, I decided to put the clippers down and try one more blooming hair product.
Drum roll please…..

It’s a product from REGIS Salons’ (small) line of straightening products. The claims were simple. ‘A lightweight gel that won’t dry out the hair. Adds texture, definition and styling flexibility.’ The instructions fairly easy ‘Directions:Apply to damp hair and let air-dry for a wet look. For added volume, apply to damp hair and blow-dry.’ Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. I have paid upwards of $20 for 1.7 oz hair product failures before. This 6$ bottle, with its plain packaging and minimal claims didn’t offer my locks much hope. Looking back I don’t know why I bought it, but I am very pleased that I did!
The cream is just that: cream. It’s bottled with a pump which dispenses a perfect amount of cream for my shoulder length hair. I applied it to my still damp hair and combed it through. Then allowed my hair to air dry a bit more as I plucked, picked, moisturized and applied my ‘war-paint’. It was drying time. Do or die time. This is where I usually end up disappointed and perhaps “dropping” a hairbrush or two. Ahem. The straightening products I’ve used in the past have actually made my hair thicker and somewhat even more coarse, as if that is possible. I clip the majority of hair up to dry the underside first as it is the curliest. After just a few strokes with the hairdryer and brush, guess what? VOILA’! Soft, shiny and STRAIGHT hair! I was surprise and somewhat skeptical but after completing my entire head….STOKED! I have straight, Bouncin’ and Behavin’ hair! After trying millions thousands hundreds, okay at least 10 different straightening products, I’ve finally found one that works and doesn’t absorb half of our grocery budget! Now, I just cannot wait for the bad cut to grow out!

*For some reason it cracks me up that I don’t allow my kids to use the word ‘hate’ and I just wrote a post filled with the word! At least it turned loving at the end, right?
